The Edward Burne Jones paintings are pretty striking. Particularly the blue one.

Agreed! At first glance it was almost haunting, but then, studying it, taking time to take it all in, it’s truly breathtaking.

Our favorite, after taking a vote, turns out to be Albrecht Dürer, The Nativity.

So many of these are new to me, but the one that sticks with me is the one from the French book of hours. I've never seen Mary at the Nativity portrayed with a book.

What makes a ‘favorite’ stand out to me is the contrast with the other works… the Albrecht Dürer is so lovely next to all the colorful images.

Wonderful! I have no kids yet, but am pretty sure I will buy Lumen--I love learning about art history! Thank you for this compilation, I will use some of them for our church handouts that we put art on. Also, hoping I can visit Goldberry books soon from Winston. Tanners "angels appearing" is my favorite.

I'd like to hear more about your handouts sometime! I love that you include art in them.

Tanner is one of my very favorites! And one of the artists featured in vol 1 of Lumen. :)
